Intoduction
Together with Martin I started in 2003
to a very shortly planned two week trip to Thailand. In contrast to a
packaged tour most of the people will do we decided to be on tour as
backpackers.
As the starting point we selected Bangkok the bizzare capital of
Thailand with its impressive temples, huge shopping malls and the
contrast of poorness and privation expressed not only by prostitution.
In our vague tour planning we decided to stay only some days in Bangkok
and planned to travel to the north. So we took a hotel room in Chiang
Mai from where we made some short trips to the tribes in the mountains
and of course to the Mekong river in golden triangle.
On the way back to Bangkok leads us along the former capitols Sukhothai
and Ayutthaya.
